ABOUT OUR COOKIE POLICY

Cookies on bootcamp.thetalentinstitute.nl, bootcamp.startupbootcamp.org en bootcamp.innoleaps.com

On this page, you will find more information about what cookies are, which cookies are used by thetalentinstitute.nl and how you can exercise influence on cookies.

What are Cookies?

A cookie is a piece of text that is given to a visiting browser by a web server, in the hope and expectation that the browser will return that text during a follow-up visit.

The cookie is a supplement to the HTTP specification. The HyperText Transfer Protocol is used by anyone who visits a website: it controls the communication between a web server and a browser. However, it is not designed to see consecutive page visits as a whole. As a result, it is not immediately possible to retrieve data or settings during a follow-up visit.

In order to make this possible, the cookie and set-cookie headers for HTTP were introduced in 1997. This specification was last updated in April 2011 and is currently called the RFC 6265 HTTP State Management Mechanism.

How do Cookies work?

Contrary to what politicians sometimes claim, cookies are not programs nor file themselves, and technically nothing is stored by the web server on the visitor's computer. The latter can completely decide which browser to use itself. Eventually, though cookies are often saved as a file, a web server cannot force a browser to actually store cookies or return them at a later visit.

A cookie is always bound to a specific domain or subdomain. Cookies are therefore only returned to the same domain, as where they came from. You are therefore certain that only the servers of Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute receive the cookies that were previously obtained via Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute. Also via javascript, only Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute can access the cookies placed by Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute.

An important aspect of cookies is that they can be received with every HTTP request and that all known, relevant cookies are included with every request. This also applies to requests that request images, javascript and CSS files for a web page. Of course, domain control is also applied.

First-party Cookies

Cookies that you receive for the same domain as you visit are called first-party cookies. When looking at this page, the cookies from Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute are first-party cookies.

Third-party Cookies

It is also possible that a website contains elements from third parties. Well-known examples are embedded videos, advertisements, and social media buttons. If cookies are sent with these elements from their own servers, they are called third-party cookies. It is, therefore, possible that when you visit Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute, you get third-party cookies for Facebook.com, Youtube.com, and other third-party websites.

If such cookies are not used, you will still see advertisements. After all, advertisements are shown that do not use cookies.

The cookies allow that:

- you can keep track of which advertisements you have already seen in order to prevent you from seeing the same advertisement

- it is possible to keep track of how many unique visitors click on the advertisement

- targeted advertisements can be shown (for example a youth product on a young website)

Due to the operation of HTTP and the protection of cookies, it is not possible for the relevant first party - in our example The Talent Institute - to influence the sending of third-party cookies.

What are cookies used for at Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute?

With cookies, it is possible to retrieve information from previous visits during follow-up visits. This is used in practice to keep track of the fact that you are logged in, that you have made certain settings and that you have seen certain site elements before. Cookies that adapt the functioning of the site to your wishes are called functional cookies.

In addition, cookies can also be used to let the site know that a visitor has been to the site before. In this way, statistics on the use of the website can be collected. A well-known example of this is Google Analytics. This only uses anonymized statistical information that is used by us to analyze and improve the operation of the site. Information about your visit behavior can also be used to match advertisements to your interests. Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute only uses anonymized information about pages that you have visited before at Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute.

The visitor profiles that Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute itself uses with first-party cookies, will never be shared with third parties and will only be used to improve the quality and relevance of Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute.

Which cookies do Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute use?

Tracking Cookies

Tracking cookies are placed on your equipment by us so that we can recognize your computer when you visit us again. There are two types of tracking cookies: session cookies and permanent cookies. With session cookies, we can see which parts of the website were viewed during a visit on your computer. With permanent cookies, we can recognize your computer if you visit our website again later.

Tracking cookies with our advertisements

With tracking cookies, we collect information about where you saw the ads and which ads you clicked.

Analytics

Cookies are placed on our website by the companies Adobe and Google. We use these cookies to gain insight into the use of our website so that we can improve our website.

Social media buttons

On our website, you will find buttons to promote web pages on Google+, Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin. These buttons work through pieces of code that come from these social networks themselves. Cookies are placed through this code. We have no influence on that.

Other/unforeseen cookies

Because of the way in which the internet and websites work, it may be that we do not always have insight into the cookies that third parties place via our website. This is especially the case when our web pages contain so-called 'embedded elements', such as texts, documents, images or videos that are stored with another party, but which are displayed on, in or via our website.

Do you see cookies on our website that fall into this category (and we have not mentioned above)? Please let us know or contact the third party concerned directly and ask which cookies they have placed, the reason for placement, the lifetime of the cookie (s) and how your privacy is guaranteed.

Disclaimer

This overview of cookies at Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute is a snapshot. Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute strive to keep this list as up-to-date as possible. Due to the non-static nature of the internet and the many involved (external) parties, however, it is possible that not all current cookies and/or sites can be found immediately in this overview.

Which cookies can others post when they visit Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute?

Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute is a community. Users can include comments under blogs, as well as testimonials on services offered. With each of these activities, users can include third-party images if desired. 3rd-party cookies can be placed for each of those images, without the knowledge and the cooperation of Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute.

In addition, Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute occasionally places third-party content. This is the case, for example, with the various social media buttons that make it possible to share messages on Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute via Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and Twitter.

Cookies are also used when serving advertisements. These cookies are used to measure how often an advertisement is shown and what interactions are done on or with the advertisement, such as clicking on a banner. By placing such cookies we can also use a so-called frequency cap; such a cap ensures that you come into contact with a particular advertisement a maximum of an x number of times and thus, for example, not seeing the same video ad repeatedly for starting a video.

How can I refuse cookies?

Without cookies, it is almost impossible for us to give you as a visitor to the best experience when visiting the site. This has to do with analyzing the web statistics to determine how the site should look and navigate, but also determine which content is popular and what is actually not read by our visitors.

Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute are a site that for a large part consists of information placed by users. We cannot guarantee that weblogs, comments, and user reviews will never contain cookies. Although Startupbootcamp, Innoleaps & The Talent Institute are not obliged to request permission from third parties for these cookies (the responsibility for this lies with the third party, for example, YouTube), we are obliged to remove the content at the moment that the third party has failed to request permission. This would mean that at the moment that only one person complains about a picture or video, this should be removed for everyone, or should develop technology that makes it possible to filter individual content for each individual user. This is practically impracticable in practice. By default, hiding or filtering content posted by users to prevent this would also seriously affect the user experience.
